Losing Sleep, Losing Homes Vigil and HUD Funding Cuts
26 Nov 2025
Carver County CDA staff were among the many that attended the Losing Sleep, Losing Homes Vigil at The Basilica of Saint Mary on Tuesday night. This Vigil is in response to the cuts that HUD released on November 13th for the Continuum of Care funding. The cuts would slash federal homelessness funding nationwide - including support for 3,600 Minnesotans. Our state alone stands to lose more than half of the critical resources Minnesotans depend on. These cuts would displace thousands of people and destabilize Minnesota's entire housing system—forcing programs to close, driving an immediate rise in unsheltered homelessness, and severely disrupting our coordinated homelessness response.
Betty, you are so strong and amazing for sharing your story and using your voice to help ensure we all understand that we are talking about people’s lives. We truly admire you!
