Each year, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recognizes and celebrates veteran owned small businesses. According to a 2012 U.S. Census Bureau survey, there are over 45,000 veteran owned businesses in the state of Minnesota, and approximately 2.5 million nationally—about 9 percent of all businesses. If you are a veteran looking to open your own business or you already own a business, there are several resources for you right here in Minnesota. From the SBA’s Office of Veterans Business Development (https://www.sba.gov/business-guide/grow-your-business/veteran-owned-businesses#section-header-0) and their Boots to Business program (https://sbavets.force.com/s/), to Bunker Labs (https://bunkerlabs.org/), and the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developer’s Open to Business program (https://www.mccdmn.org/open-to-business), these programs can help veteran entrepreneurs and small business owners with tools and resources they need to develop and grow their business.
