Staff also serves as an economic development resource, funding and referral source to cities and townships throughout the County.
The Carver County CDA offers a wide range of assistance to public and private clients. We specialize in:
Community Development: The Carver County CDA can assist cities with securing and administering local, state and federal grants and loans, project planning, and program implementation. We do this by entering into technical assistance contracts with any City in Carver County.
Economic Development: The CDA can provide assistance to local units of government in Carver County by providing technical assistance, financing the acquisition of commercial/industrial land, working on tax abatement and tax increment financing and offering incentives to business looking to expand in or relocate to Carver County.
The Carver County CDA is pleased to announce that it has added a new program to assist new and existing small businesses in the County. The program-- called “Open to Business”-- provides one on one business counseling to current and prospective entrepreneurs. Open to Business consultants work with entrepreneurs to develop a strong business plan, to identify challenges and opportunities, and to tailor solutions. The service is available free of charge to all County residents, and any business located in Carver County.
In addition to consulting, Open to Business program can link entrepreneurs to financing for a variety of business purposes, including equipment financing, inventory, cash flow/working capital needs and start-up costs. Open to Business has capital available to make loans directly to small businesses, and can assist entrepreneurs in creating an attractive loan package to apply to banks and other lending institutions.
The Carver County CDA has partnered with the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers (MCCD) to bring the Open to Business program to Carver County. MCCD, a non-profit community development corporation, brings more than 20 years of experience providing technical assistance and small business loans to entrepreneurs.
Whether an entrepreneur has been in business for 20 years, or is in the early stages of exploring a business idea, Open to Business is available to help. Consultants are available at the Carver County CDA offices (705 Walnut St., Chaska) every Wednesday, and by appointment. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, contact Lee Hall at (612) 789-7337 ext. 17, or E-mail Lhall@mccdmn.org.
